Welcome to Groove!

Chances are you're here because you need a new shared inbox for managing emails. Well, you've come to the right place! The options for connecting your mailboxes in Groove will depend on your mail provider and how your mails are currently configured.

Connect a Gmail mailbox with OAuth:

This is the best option for connecting a standalone Gmail mailbox in Groove (a mailbox that is neither an alias nor a Google Group address, more on that below!).

Click Settings → Channels → Add channel then follow the instructions to connect your Gmail.

Connect a Microsoft Office365 or Outlook.com mailbox with OAuth:

This is the best option for connecting a standalone Microsoft mailbox in Groove (a mailbox that is neither an alias nor a distribution address, more on that below!).

Similar to the above, click Settings → Channels → Add channel then follow the instructions to connect your Microsoft account (both available options for Outlook or Office 365 will work, they have the same function under the hood).

Which method should I use to connect my emails?

Follow either of the steps here depending on which type of Gmail account you're looking to connect:

Other email clients:

If you're not using Gmail or Microsoft for email, you can either connect your email using IMAP, or forward any other email to Groove.
Click Settings → Channels → Add channel then follow the steps for either IMAP or connecting your mailbox using forwarding:

Groove supports email forwarding from all sorts of different mail providers and they're all pretty simple to set up. Look for your email client below and click through for a guide on how to set up your forwarding:

Once you've finished setting up your Groove inbox and your forwarding is in place in your email account settings, you are good to go! All of your incoming emails will get forwarded to your shared inbox in Groove and your team can manage everything from there.

What happens to my mails in Gmail or Microsoft once Groove is connected?

The mails in Gmail or Microsoft would remain as they are - it's not a true 1:1 sync with Groove: any changes made in Groove will not affect your emails in your mailboxes with your email provider - you can see Gmail/Microsoft as a backup of all incoming mails while using Groove! Deleting mails in Gmail or Microsoft (ones that are already in Groove) would not affect the tickets (emails) in Groove. Mails in Groove are securely and privately stored on our servers.
