To prevent your users from being presented with an empty screen when starting a new chat, you can set up the welcome bot. This bot allows you to show an introductory message in any new conversations started by a user.
Some use cases for this are:
- Just saying hello.
- Ask users to provide some specific information when sharing issues.
Note: If there are any other bot automations set to display a welcome message (such as the "Email capture" bot) they will take precedence over the "Welcome bot". This ensures only one welcome message is shown at the same time.
To set up and customize this bot, navigate to Widget → Live Chat → Bot Automation and click on Activate for the "Welcome bot". After that you can tweak the welcome message to your liking.
To uninstall this bot, navigate to Widget → Live Chat → Bot Automation and click on the cog icon for the "Welcome bot". Then, click the button saying Disable bot, and click again to confirm. You can re-enable the bot at any time, and any custom message will still be around.
